Local Hiking Trails:
Cascade Creek Trail -  follow the route of the original pioneers who struggled up this creek to reach the gold fields in Silverton
Castle Rock - Check out awesome views of Electra Lake and Hotter Ranch.
Engineer Mountain - Can you make it to the large boulder known as “Social Rock”?  So named because of the ideal marker and meeting place it provides.
Hoodies Trail - Short hike to DMR with beautiful views of Twilight and Needles mountains along the way.
Purgatory Flats - This delightful trail winds down through the aspen forest to an old stage coach stop and mining camp.
Spud Lake - Hike to Spud lake, a popular spot to fish and swim and the scenery is superb.
CV Water Tower Hike - Great hike with no drive, this trail ascends immediately and then winds gently through an aspen forest and goes down to a meadow along the Cascade Creek.
Other Interesting Hikes:
For additional hiking options and more information about these and other trails in the area, the book “Hiking Trails of Southwestern Colorado” by Paul Pixler & John Peel is a great resource.  The National Forest Service website can provide you with even more options.  Go to www.fs.usda.gov. The page will ask for a name of a forest.  Choose San Juan.  On the next page, select “recreation”.  Then select hiking.
Trout Fishing - Fish in the Cascade Village Pond.  The pond is a great place to have a little one catch their first fish.  Borrow a fishing pole from the Community Center or take your own.
                     - Haviland Lake and Camp Ground is a beautiful small lake south of Cascade Village.  It is loaded with Rainbow trout.  Fish from the bank or launch a tube or kayak and attempt to catch the big ones in the middle of the lake.
                     - Andrews Lake is another fantastic alpine lake that has an abundance of trout.  Surrounded by the mountain peaks close to Molas Pass even if you aren't catching anything, you can't beat the scenery!
                     - For Guided Fishing trips - there are several outfitters in Durango that can meet your needs.
Horseback Riding - Rapp Corral
